| Nicolaus Copernicus University
Nicolaus Copernicus University (www.umk.pl) is one of the top five Universities in Poland. The Medical Physics Group was established in 1996 and it is among the few pioneering European research groups developing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The group has close connections with the ophthalmology clinic at Collegium Medicum.
The group pioneered the use of Fourier Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in the visualisation of ocular tissues, and their labs are fully equipped with table-top setups for testing new advances and technologies for OCT. This technology was subsequently transferred to a Polish SME that commercialises instruments for ophthalmology.
