Lancaster, United Kingdom
The Physics Department at Lancaster University (www.lancs.ac.uk) is one of only five UK physics departments to receive the highest possible rating for its research in the last UK research assessment exercise. The research group involved in PROPHET is the Semiconductor Physics and Nanostructures group (www.physics.lancs.ac.uk/research/condmatt/scpn). Lancaster has an established international record in MBE growth of nanostructured antimonide materials and devices for mid-IR (2-5 μm) optoelectronic applications and has a leading capability in growth of antimonide QDs. Epitaxy is based around a VG V80 MBE reactor (Veeco) with As and Sb valved cracker sources.
