Istituto per la Microelettronica e Microsistemi
Università degli studi Catania, Italy
The Center of Materials and Technologies for Information, Communication and Solar Energy (MATIS) is one of the Units of the Istituto per la Microelettronica e Microsistemi (www.imm.cnr.it), and is located at Università degli studi Catania. It was established in 2004 as one of the ten interdisciplinary Research & Development Centers of the National Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM), and in 2010 joined IMM as a Research Unit.
IMM-UNICT has an internationally recognised experience in Si-based photonics, microelectronics, nanotechnology, quantum coherent systems and advanced photovoltaics. Basic and applied research on the above topics benefits from collaborations with universities and industrial partners. The different research activities performed inside IMM-UNICT are based upon a wide set of facilities which allows to create, modify and characterise several materials. IMM-UNICT has a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped for growth (MBE), structural and optical characterisation.
